BUILDING TREES

Trees can add to the appearance of almost any model railway layout, from single track rural branches to the dense trackwork of a city center terminus. Trees can grow in any small gap of land that is left undisturbed. Sometimes they have plenty of room to grow and can become huge, but in other locations the species can be a small one, or the roots restricted either in space or nourishment and the tree can be quite stunted. Here we show how to create trees for your layout.

BUILDING BASEBOARDS

A rigid baseboard is an essential part of a layout. If it is intended that the layout be portable, say for exhibition purposes, a rigid but lightweight structure is required.

We have adopted the “L” GIRDER principle of baseboard construction as this type of construction fulfills this requirement.
